The dangers of misconception
Building a house on weak fundamentals is as dangerous as having a faulty emotional relationship. False communication caused by lack of judgement and shallowness of assumption is easily creating misconception. Misconception which in turn creates a lack of acceptance and tolerance of the otherness of individuals or cultures.
Unfortunately, a scenario which is often portrayed throughout the world. The use of language as we know it today isn’t making things easier. Words easily take the shape of the recipient if you don’t have a shared agreement about its meanings. What does it mean to be a man or wo-man? What does it mean to be response-able? What does it mean to be matured? All these abstract terms need thorough dia-lectics if we want to come to an accepted meaning. If words stay abstract and dead, we can never use them with vitality and fluidity in our lives. In today’s standards of language we need to define them into objective descriptions in which we can find our shared opinions. Knowledge without the harsh reality of our instincts, like body language, is simply a comfortable fantasy created by the mind. A great danger we face as a human race today. Living in abstractions and proselytizing those upon others is creating division between relationships, family and cultures wide.
Language as we know it today need some tools in order to reach the goal of mutual understanding or agape, otherwise known as Platonic love or non-sexual love. Without the essential ingredients of dia-lectics and the art of etymology, we loose our minds in intellectual fights and, therefore, division. Whole war zones, could it be in home or nation wide are started because of this great challenge we share. A war that can be prevented by asking the 5 W’s; Why, When, What, who and where. Add a ‘how’ to the list and you are set up like a professional researcher!
The goal of agape or Platonic love is what I hope to evoke through my writing here. To refer back to the house metaphor; it is impossible to create something sustainable by having miscommunication. The house will crumble down in no-time.
I actually believe that language in it’s root invention is a great danger for families, relationships and the world in general. Body language, voice intonations and instinctual signs are far more trustworthy and alive to read then abstract terms and mind-headed interpretations. A language based on tones or images, like telepathy would be a greater solution in order to achieve the goal of Agape.
That being said, misconception is simply an effect of our alienation. An alienation from true life experience, true instincts and, therefore, true relationships..
A sad reality our societies are facing.
Below is a source of articles about personality and spirituality that can aid in our goal of understanding and accepting each other differences. I think a goal worthwhile striving for.
